Stadens borgmästare Luigi Brugnaro lägger skulden på klimatförändringarna och vill att regeringen utlyser nödläge.

HISTORY IS THE BEST ANTIDOTE TO THE CULT OF CLIMATE ALARMISM
The media is currently full of pictures of flooded Venice, with commentary that ‘climate change’ is to be blamed.
Such reporting no doubt helps recruit naive & gullible young children and low informal ABC/Guardian types into the religious cult of Climatism.
But how many of these articles tell the full story and the long history of Venice’s flooding ?
How many articles state the fact Venice is subsiding ?
And how many media outlets make their audience aware of the existence of the famous painting by
Vincenzo Chilone (1758 - 1839) titled; VIEW OF THE FLOODED PIAZZA SAN MARCO, VENICE, DECEMBER 9, 1825 (oil on canvas : 59.7 by 79.4 cm.)
This painting was sold by Sotheby’s in New York for US$122,500 in 2010.
The Sotheby’s Auction Catalogue included the following notes for the painting;
‘’Throughout history, Venice has been plagued by high waters. The present painting depicts such an event. Here, the water has risen to a level so high that gondolas can easily float through the Piazza.
‘’Rather than finding these events annoying they were, in fact, a source of amusement for local Venetians. Boats and gondolas were even decorated with sollazzieri or types of decorative festoons as they were punted around the Piazza.’’
