Nya El-färjor på G till linjen Rödby - Puttgarden som ska konkurrera med nya tunneln prismässigt så Schandlines-Schnitzeln är inte död än !!
On November 25th Cemre Shipyard launched FUTURA. When delivered it will be one of the largest double-ended ferry in the world but even more interesting the largest 0-emission ship globally with the ability to charge in Rodby port using a 25MW power cable in order to perform trip between Denmark and Germany without any emissions.
Later in 2025 it is understood that Putgarden port will also have charging capabilities.
FUTURA is a freight oriented double-ended ferry due to the fact a fixed link (Grrrrrrr) is due to open in 2030...
FUTURA is the shape of things to come on this route. drivers will likely use the tunnel while ferries will compete on price on the freight market (as well as hazardous goods).
I hope FUTURA will have several sisters including at least one with more passenger accomodation!
FUTURA is 147m long and can fit 1250 freight lane meter on 2 decks.
On the 2nd pictures you can spot Calmac ISLE OF ISLAY which is getting ready for launching too!!
